DAR Partnership

Each year at the NSSAR National Congress, the Society presents the DAR/SAR award to the DAR State society that recruits the most members for the SAR for the year.  We were grateful and honored to recommend this award to the Chicago DAR recently when we submitted a recent application.

This is a great program which encourages collaboration between the SAR and the DAR.  The form can be download from the National website (https://members.sar.org/media/uploads/pages/201/Ef8Cb5hXIppz.pdf) or is also available for download here.

The Grace Martin DAR Chapter Referral Award may be awarded to the DAR chapter that obtains the largest number of new SAR members in a single calendar year with a minimum of five new members.  The award consists of a Recognition Certificate from the GA Society SAR State President and a $100.00 cash award.  Count will be maintained by use of the DAR Finder Form.

The Rachel Martin DAR Chapter Referral Award may be awarded to the DAR chapter that obtains the largest percentage of new SAR members in a single calendar year.  Percentage is based on the new SAR members divided by the number of DAR members in said chapter on January 1st of the award year.  The award consists of a Recognition Certificate from the GA Society SAR State President and a $100.00 cash award.  Count will be maintained by use of the DAR Finder Form.

The DAR Liaison Committee is responsible for this award.  They will obtain the membership count of each DAR chapter at the beginning of each calendar year.   The State Registrar will maintain the DAR Finder Forms and the DAR Liaison Committee will request from the Registrar the number of DAR Finder Forms by DAR chapter for the prior year.  The DAR Liaison Committee will then determine the two winners and inform the State President and the Awards Committee Chairman.

Ties will be broken in following manner:  If two or more chapters obtain the same number of referrals, the winner will be the chapter with the highest percentage.  If two or more chapters obtain the same percentage, the winner will be the chapter with the highest number.

The 126th Annual Congress of the Sons of the American Revolution took place on July 8th, 2016.  Shortly before that, on June 28th, the new website was launched (you can read about the announcement here).  Along with the release of the website came a new online application system.  It was proposed at congress that with the release of the new online system that all applications only be submitted online.  Fortunately, we have some time to use both the new online system as well as the old application while we become familiar with the new website.

As indicated on the launch page, regardless of whether you had a login on the old site, you will need to create a new username and password.  A new account can be created here (https://members.sar.org/login#sign_up_).  Once logged in, you can access the new application process by selecting 'My Applications' along the left panel.

From this panel you can access any applications that you had previous submitted and create a new application.   The online application manual provides detailed instruction on how to use the new process.

If you have questions or need assistance with the new online application system, please reach out to your chapter registrar or directly to NSSAR.

We appreciate all your patience as we bring our new website online and get our Facebook page (http://fb.com/dearbornsar) up and running.

Since the Fort Dearborn chapter no longer publishes a newsletter, please keep an eye on our 'Front Lines' blog for what is happening in the Fort Dearborn Chapter as well as in Illinois and National.

As we continue to bring new publications and content online, if you have suggestions for new content that will be valuable to current and future members, please use our online form or send an email to webmaster@dearbornsar.org.
